After a drive through the Tuscan countryside, we reach Siena, famous for its Piazza del Campo, Palazzo Comunale, and Torre del Mangia. Every year, the famous "Palio" takes place here in Siena. Visit the popular Cathedral, which is one of the greatest examples of Middle Ages architecture, and admire the charming buildings along the lively narrow streets.
After another short drive, we reach the pleasant country estate of Monteriggioni. Close by, you will be served a lunch of typical Chianti products, including a selection of fine local wines that are cultivated with passion and expertise by the friendly owners of the farm.
Afterwards, we travel to the medieval town of San Gimignano, which is known for the "Vernaccia" wine that is produced there. A stroll in the town center means discovering true artistic jewels, such as Piazza della Cisterna, the Dome, Palazzo del Podestà and the Church of Sant'Agostino.
Finally, we reach the famous town of Pisa. Here, you can find the famous Leaning Tower, Baptistery, Monumental Graveyard, and Piazza Dei Miracoli. It is in the city of Pisa where you will find the greatest expressions of 12th and 13th century Romanesque architecture.
Where will I go?
Driving through the quintessential Tuscan countryside region, we first explore the idyllic hill town of Siena. In Siena, you can explore several museums and enjoy the unique historical Tuscan architecture of the area.
From Siena, we drive into the heart of Chianti territory, famous for its vineyards and olive groves. It is here that we next explore the ancient fortified hamlet of Monteriggioni, a small jewel built during the 13th century. Here, you can take a walk along the ancient walls with eleven towers and discover a beautiful corner of Tuscany still suspended in the Middle Ages.
After lunch in a wine farm in the countryside, with a short drive we reach the beautiful town of San Gimignano. The city is named the "Manhattan of the Middle Ages" due to its intact medieval town and old towers.
After a quick tour of the city, we finally reach the famous town of Pisa, one of the most famous Tuscan cities worldwide. Pisa is waiting for us with a sparkling view of Piazza dei Miracoli, another UNESCO world heritage site. Pisa is the final stop on our Tuscan countryside tour.
