What Will I See?
Let Gray Line Florence take you on a comprehensive and amazing excursion through Tuscany's majestic cities of Siena, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni!
What Will I Do?
Our tour begins with a panoramic bus ride through the wondrous green hills of the Chianti region. On the way to Siena, we'll stop first in San Gimignano, a small city known for its renowned towers located atop a hill. We'll explore the historic center decorated with frescoes and medieval art. You'll have the opportunity to venture the town on your own and explore until we leave for the gently Chianti rolling hills.
Left San Gimignano, the tour will head then to Siena. Upon arrival, we'll stroll through the town's historic center, to reach Piazza del Campo, Siena's magnificent square surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and shops. Piazza del Campo houses the Palazzo Pubblico, the Town Hall and is the core of Siena's social life. Here, led by a professional local guide, will start the walking tour of the city center. We will stroll down the pebbled narrow streets surrounded by palaces and marvelous shops until we reach the Museum and Oratory of a Contrada, where you'll be taken on an intimate, behind-the-scenes private tour of Siena's historical documents, private art collection, and gain authentic insight into the 17 districts that make up Siena. Plus, learn about Siena's historic and famous horserace, in which each district representative competes twice a year in the world-famous "Palio". Our tour of Siena ends at the imposing 12th-Century medieval Cathedral, embellished with polychrome marble. If you wish, enrich your visit experience with the inside Guided Visit of this stunning monument, together with its Libreria Piccolomini, to discover the beauty of its treasures and works of art.
In the afternoon, we will stop at the charming historical hamlet of Monteriggioni, an amazing small medieval village enclosed by its famous walls, which remained standing to this day. Free time for inside visit.
As our final destination, you'll stroll vintage vineyards from Chianti's small wineries. Inside the antique cellars, you'll sample the magnificent tastes of diverse wines and local foods.
It is important to note that the attractions may change due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event that the Museum and the Oratory of the Contrada are inaccessible, we will substitute the site with a tour of the Cathedral's interior or another historic and prestigious area belonging to the Tuscan region.
