The grand palace was home to the Medici family and the interior showcases the best of Italian Renassaince masterworks, featuring frescoes, paintings, decorations and statues from the Italian masters such as Michelangelo, Donatello, Verrocchio, Vasari, Ghirlandaio and Bronzino. The halls of the building are a veritable museum. Feel free to explore the renowned "Hall of the 500," Francesco I de' Medici's personal study and the exquisite private quarters of Eleonora of Toledo and Cosimo I de' Medici. The palace surrounds a courtyard designed by Michelozzo, which displays frescoes painted by Giorgio Vasari in 1565, ornate columns and stunning sculptures by Battista del Tadda and Andrea del Verrocchio.
