Enjoy this splendid excursion through the fertile and picturesque Tuscan countryside, to the historic city of Pisa, famous for the architectural beauty of its monuments, among which the celebrated Leaning Tower
What will I see?
Our tour of Pisa takes you along the Tuscan countryside. Medieval hilltop towns, the University of Pisa, and Piazza dei Miracoli are a few of the famous landmarks you'll see that make Pisa an amazing place to visit.
What will I do?
Upon arrival, you'll set foot on Piazza dei Miracoli's vibrant green lawn. You can examine the four white Romanesque structures, also know as the "Miracles", while your guide gives information about these precious structures which are spread throughout the religious square. The Baptistery represents birth; the Cathedral and its Leaning Tower symbolize life; Camposanto's sacred graveyard alludes to death.
Next, our guide will walk you around the Cathedral's facade so that you can see its Pisan Romanesque décor. Its exterior walls are adorned with marble, mosaics and bronze sculptures. Inside the Cathedral, the central nave is flanked by two side aisles adorned with granite Corinthian pillars.
The Baptistery, located in front of the Cathedral, will enchant you with its arcades of marble columns supporting the dome, while the Camposanto, Pisa's ancient cemetery, offers you a close-up look at its monumental cloister housing sarcophagi and Roman tombs.
Our last stop takes you to the breathtaking Leaning Tower, one of the wonders of the world. As you stare at its spectacular angle, your guide will explain the tower's history.
After the tour, you'll have free time to explore Pisa's historical neighborhoods. Visit the San Sisto Church or visit Piazza dei Cavalieri's Cathedral. In the event you are not able to go inside the Cathedral, you'll be offered a guided tour.
